Hiking with a hip flask?

Yes, why not! Evenings by the campfire are long and chilly. BUT! Be very careful and don’t overdo it with the booze! Firstly, it’s harmful to your health anyway, and secondly, while hiking, your body is tired and tuned differently, and you’re definitely more dehydrated than usual. Therefore, consuming a strong (or even a light) drink on a hike shouldn’t be the same as what you’re used to in normal situations. A small flask helps keep the amount under control.

How to choose the right hip flask for you?

Cleaning

First, the flask must be cleaned with hot water—rinse it immediately after each use, drain it, and store it with the cap open. We also recommend washing the inside, the cap, and the cap thread with hot water before the first use.

There are other effective ways to thoroughly clean a flask, or any other bottle, to ensure the vessel is clean. Specifically, you can try adding rice, salt, or vinegar along with hot water. These help make the rinsing process even more effective.

TIP! Sometimes quite a bit of the good stuff goes to waste when pouring directly from a bottle into a flask, and if you don’t have a funnel handy, roll some foil or baking paper into a cone and you’ve got a disposable funnel!
