ALPINA boot brand and its history

ALPINA is a Slovenian boot manufacturer that has been producing various types of footwear since 1947. Behind the ALPINA brand is exceptional craftsmanship, innovative materials and technologies, functionality, and design. So far, the ALPINA brand is mainly known as the first choice for the world’s best skiers. Numerous Olympic and World Championship records have been set with ALPINA boots. ALPINA boots are known worldwide among cross-country skiers, but increasingly also among hikers.

After 75 years of production experience, ALPINA has taken a new direction and today also produces hiking boots and footwear for everyday wear. ALPINA’s mission is to offer people freedom of movement and joy.

Boot care guide – how to maintain hiking boots?

ALPINA boots are produced using high-quality full-grain leather combined with innovative synthetic materials. To make the boots last for more years and maintain their functionality and appearance, they need occasional maintenance. By taking care of your footwear, you extend its lifespan and ensure a quality look. Maintaining footwear is not a complicated process; they mainly need cleaning and conditioning. By conditioning, we mean caring for the full-grain leather parts of the shoe. All care creams and liquids intended for full-grain leather are suitable for this. Depending on the weather, various moisture repellents, nano-waxes, etc., can be used. Leather care products are available in all shoe stores.

First, remove the laces from the shoes and wipe off loose dirt with a soft brush. If stubborn dirt is stuck to the sole, use a stiff-bristled brush for cleaning. The best time to clean hiking boots is immediately after a hike, before the dirt has dried into the boot. If necessary, you can also use running water and a shoe cleaner.

Dry the boots at room temperature in a location with low humidity. Do not use an extra hot location or hot air for drying. A good tip is to fill the boots with newspaper – this helps reduce the time it takes for the boots to dry.

ALPINA boots mainly use soles from two brands – Vibram® or MICHELIN

Vibram brand soles are known for their good grip properties on various surfaces. Especially valued by hikers in mountainous areas.

Michelin soles are known for their durability and lightness. The Michelin rubber compound works well on different soil types, certainly largely thanks to Michelin’s long-term experience with tire technologies and materials.

Size chart

How to choose the right size?

If you’re not sure about your shoe size, you can check the size inside your old shoes. If there’s a UK size, you can use the table below to find the corresponding EUR size.

Another option is to measure your foot size yourself. You can use an A4 sheet of paper for this. Step on the paper, mark two lines – at the heel and at the big toe. Then measure the distance with a tape measure to get the foot length in centimeters (cm). Use the table below to find your corresponding EUR (EU/FR) size.
