Description

Lightweight and warm sleeping bag

A sleeping bag that is light, compact, and warm. The Yellowstone Ultra Lite 150 meets all these criteria. It features a water-resistant outer fabric and a secure zipper. You can adjust the fit using the drawstrings. Additionally, there is a secure internal pocket for your small personal items.

This lightweight sleeping bag is primarily designed for summer use or travel to warmer climates. Its ideal comfort temperature range is between +11°C and +6°C, with an extreme minimum of -6°C. It is light, weighing approximately 850 grams.

Sleeping bag temperature ratings can be difficult to understand. They are tested in labs through various scenarios. While these tests can’t perfectly mimic real life, they are a reliable guide for comparing sleeping bags from different brands.

Lab tests usually rate sleeping bags in two ways, accounting for physiological differences between women and men. The comfort temperature is marked with women’s sleeping comfort in mind, as women tend to feel colder while sleeping. The lower limit is marked for men, as it’s assumed men prefer sleeping in cooler conditions.

However, all these tests are relative and depend on various real-life factors. These include differences in clothing and gear, body types (warm vs. cold sleepers), weather conditions, and more.

Down vs. synthetic sleeping bags

There’s no need to fear synthetic materials anymore. Technology has advanced so much that most synthetic materials used in sleeping bags and blankets don’t cause sweating. Synthetic materials are more affordable and easier to maintain than down. They also handle moisture better. The Duralite 3D down-like microfibre (150 g/m²) used in the Yellowstone Ultra Lite 150 is therefore a very solid choice.

Keeping warmth in is key

A sleeping bag’s job is to retain body heat. To do this, ensure the bag has high-quality seams and closure systems to minimize heat loss. This has been a priority for the Yellowstone Ultra Lite 150. Additionally, you should place a moisture-proof mat under the bag to stay dry whether in a tent or directly on the ground.

Take good care of your sleeping bag

When out hiking, hang your sleeping bag between trees to air it out in the morning if possible. Do the same at home if it has been in its stuff sack for a long time. Another important tip many don’t know: don’t roll your sleeping bag; instead, stuff it into the bag. This keeps more air in the insulation and helps it last longer.
