Description
A toolbox in your pocket
The multi-tool, or multitool, has proven its worth over time. It’s an inseparable companion for every active man and woman, carried on a belt or in a bag everywhere. A multi-tool is especially effective on the go, as you never know when you’ll need to cut through a blocking wire or saw a branch.
At the same time, a multi-tool is an essential companion at home, containing three different screwdrivers, pliers, and even a can and bottle opener.
The Mil-Tec Black Cobra multi-tool features 9 full-size tools. Its body is made of lightweight aluminum finished with a non-reflective black oxide, and the included tools are made of high-quality 2CR13 steel.
The Cobra’s main strength is its powerful spring-loaded pliers with an integrated wire cutter that can be deployed quickly. All 9 tools are easy to use yet lock firmly, ensuring safe and secure operation. Meanwhile, the tools are easily folded back with just one clip press.
A multi-tool is reliable but still needs a little maintenance
Multi-tools are very reliable, but what works inevitably wears out. Maintain your tool consistently so it’s always sharp and ready for use. Here are a few tips.
Cleanliness
A clean tool prevents uncomfortable situations. Make sure no sand, soil, or other dirt gets between the moving parts of the tool. Compressed air is ideal for cleaning the small parts of a multi-tool, but a cloth and, if necessary, a wooden toothpick also help.
Rust
Despite multi-tools being made of stainless steel, they are not corrosion-proof. Corrosion-resistant steel wouldn’t be able to ensure the sharpness of the tools, so it’s not suitable for making bladed tools.
This doesn’t mean rust appears quickly. If you clean the tool immediately after use and contact with salt and acids, nothing will happen. So, for example, after a fishing trip at sea or cutting a tree branch with acidic sap, be sure to wash the tool thoroughly with fresh water.
Keep the moving parts of the multi-tool in constant motion
To ensure moving parts continue to move after long-term use, it’s worth applying some lubricating oil to them occasionally. Also, if you notice corrosion spots, you can put the same oil on a cloth and clean them.
