Always keep your water bottle close!
Water is crucial on a hike (and in general). A person’s water needs depend on body weight, but the general recommendation is to drink an average of 28-32 milliliters of water per kilogram of body weight. When physically active, your water needs increase because you likely sweat more, and water leaves the body through sweat even in cooler temperatures, even if it doesn’t feel like you’re sweating. In such cases, you should increase your water intake and drink at regular intervals. In colder weather, keep your water bottle in your backpack right against your back to keep the liquid inside warm.
A water bottle is heavy in a hiking pack
It sure is! But when setting off, taking water with you is inevitable because you can’t be sure when you’ll come across the first water source. However, the question is, when you finally reach that spot – a waterfall, spring, or lake – how can you be sure the water there is safe to drink?
Unfortunately, you can never be 100% sure, and the easiest way is to heat the water over a fire; heat kills all bacteria and makes the water suitable for drinking. You can get help starting a campfire with Tactical Fire Pot ignition gel.
You can also take water purification tablets on your hike. They weigh almost nothing in your bag, and by using them, you can always be sure of the water’s purity.
What is the PCTG material that the MIL-TEC water bottle is made of?
The uses for PCTG plastic material are very broad. It is used to make reusable water bottles (including those for toddlers), cosmetic packaging and caps, and is also used in the medical industry.
The material is BPA-free, meeting food storage standards. Its density and transparency are close to glass, yet it is durable and impact-resistant. This makes it an ideal companion for hiking, where dropping it is quite likely.
Put something else in the bottle
In addition to water, it’s necessary to consume nutrients, and smoothies are a great way to get them. Tactical Foodpack’s berry, banana, and green smoothies are great companions for hiking, post-workout, or just for drinking. To prepare them, all you need to do is add water. And even though you can drink them straight from the pack, there’s nothing stopping you from drinking them from a bottle.
Clean it
- Always use dish soap
- Use a cleaning brush, as the grooves around the bottle opening need to be cleaned thoroughly
- Wash the cap carefully as well
- Let it dry properly
