A camping pan must be light and compact

There’s no room in a backpack for a heavy, massive pan. When hiking, equipment weight and compactness are crucial. Your camping pan should be as good as the one you have at home (or why not even better). A high-quality camping pan weighs very little. The lighter the better, of course, but the weight should stay under 500 grams.

The handle of a camping pan must be either detachable or foldable. There is never extra space in a backpack, and a fixed handle would just get in the way. A folding handle should be lockable during cooking. This helps prevent accidents when handling a hot pan.

The third important feature for a camping pan is that food doesn’t stick to the bottom. Washing options are usually limited (if not non-existent) while hiking, and you often have to manage with just cold water, no detergent, or a limited amount of water. It’s convenient to cook on a pan that can be wiped clean with a damp cloth after use.
