Description

FireSand fuel capsules – a reliable heat source for hiking and emergencies

FireSand fuel capsules are a compact heating solution developed in Estonia for boiling water, preparing or heating food, and lighting a campfire, grill, or fireplace if needed. The three-capsule pack is ideal for shorter hikes, fishing or hunting trips, car emergency kits, and home crisis supplies.

FireSand is designed for situations where simplicity and reliability are key. You don’t need to carry a gas cylinder or a complex burner system to use the capsule. The fuel capsule is ready to use: remove it from the cup, place it on a fireproof surface or in a suitable camping stove, and light it.

Reliable even in difficult weather conditions

Lighting standard solid fuel tablets can be difficult in cold or windy weather. FireSand ignites easily and burns steadily even in cooler and windier conditions. This makes it a great addition to hiking gear where the heating solution must work even when the weather isn’t perfect.

The burning time of one fuel capsule is approximately 15 minutes. In calm weather and temperatures above freezing, one tablet allows you to boil up to approximately one liter of water. Actual boiling time and fuel consumption depend on the outdoor temperature, wind, the vessel used, and the design of the camping stove.

Burns cleanly and without unpleasant odors

FireSand differs from conventional hexamine-based fuel tablets in that it burns cleanly and does not produce a strong unpleasant odor. After burning, only a small amount of clean sand remains from the capsule, which can be collected after it has cooled down completely.

The fuel capsule composition uses denatured alcohol and silica. The fuel is bound into a solid and easy-to-handle form, so it does not flow or leak like liquid fuel. The compact capsules are easy to pack in a hiking bag, survival kit, or crisis equipment box.

FireSand fuel capsules can be used in various situations:

for boiling water while hiking or camping;

for preparing and heating camping food;

for making hot water for coffee or tea;

to help light a campfire;

for lighting a grill or fireplace;

as backup heating in a crisis during power or gas outages.

Thanks to their light weight and compact packaging, FireSand capsules are well-suited for users who want to reduce the volume of their hiking gear and avoid carrying a gas cylinder. Three separate capsules allow you to use only the required amount and keep the remaining tablets in the package until the next use.

A patented solution developed in Estonia

The FireSand fuel capsule was developed at the University of Tartu and is protected by a European patent in 22 countries. The product has also been tested during Estonian Defence Forces exercises. FireSand is manufactured under license from the University of Tartu.

Technical info

In the package: 3 fuel capsules

Weight of one tablet: 40 g

Total weight: 120 g

Burning time: approximately 15 minutes once the tablet is removed from the capsule

Boiling water: one tablet allows you to boil up to approximately 1 liter of water in suitable conditions

Composition: denatured alcohol and silica

Combustion residue: a small amount of sand

Suitable for: hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, crisis supplies, and fire starting

The water boiling result is measured in calm conditions and at air temperatures above freezing. Cold, strong winds, and an unsuitable cooking vessel can increase fuel consumption.

Safe use

Use the fuel capsule only in a well-ventilated area and place it on a stable, non-flammable surface or in a designated camping stove. Keep the burning tablet away from tent fabric, dry vegetation, and other flammable materials. Do not leave an open flame unattended and allow the residue to cool completely before removal.
